Musk is the dried secretion of the musk sac of adult male Moschus berezovskii Flerov, Moschus sifanicus Przewalski or Moschus moschiferus Linnaeus (Fam. Cervidate) from Chinese pharmacopoeia.
Musk has over two thousand years history in treating diseases and is used as monarch (principal) ingredients in many classic Chinese Prescriptions. Without this API, medicines cannot function effectively. There are records in ancient books such as “Shen Nong 's Herbal Classic, Introduction to Medicine, Ming Yi Bie Lu, Compendium of Materia Medica, Qianjin Yi Fang.”

Muscone is key raw material of musk. Hongjitang is the ONLY certified GMP muscone manufacture in China and have started to research synthetic muscone since 1975.

Muscone is known for its various pharmacological activities and mechanisms.

Loss of consciousness in febrile disease, wind-stroke phlegm syncope, qi depression sudden syncope, coma caused by attack of pestilent factors, amenorrhea, abdominal, pain caused by traumatic injuries, arthralgia, numbness, swelling abscess and scrofula, swelling and sore throat.
