“Efficient Service, Practical Actions: Facilitating the Globalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine.” On September 15th, Shandong Hongjitang Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to asHongjitang presented a commendation banner to the Provincial Drug Supervision Bureau, expressing gratitude for the efficient service in issuing certificates for the export sales of medicines.
The drug supervision authorities issue certificates for the export sales of medicines as essential documentation for the overseas listing of pharmaceutical products. Currently, the Provincial Drug Supervision Bureau has issued export sales certificates for 70 instances covering 43 varieties of medicines for Hongjitang.
Macau Abroad: Last year, a batch of certificates for export to Macau, issued by the bureau, left a deep impression on Hongjitang’s staff. Informed that the new regulations for traditional Chinese medicine in Macau came into effect on January 1st of this year, with a shift from filing to a registration system for the market entry of traditional Chinese medicines, Hongjitang Macau acted promptly. They planned to concentrate on the filing of products in Macau within six months and submitted applications for export sales certificates for 31 traditional Chinese medicine varieties, including Angong Niuhuang Pills, in August 2021.
Expanding overseas business: Despite the seemingly concise nature of these certificates, they involved substantial content verification work. Every variety required meticulous scrutiny, from prescription composition to English nomenclature. The regulatory personnel worked tirelessly, including overtime, to efficiently complete the verification and processing of certificates. This ensured timely submission of the company’s filing documents in Macau, allowing them to seize the development opportunity.
According to company representatives, by the end of 2021, Hongjitang had obtained approval for 21 varieties in Macau including Angong Niuhuang pill and successfully commenced sales. The smooth filing of these products in Macau is also beneficial for the company to extend its reach to Portuguese-speaking countries, serving as a “bridgehead” for the export of traditional Chinese medicine.
The presented commendation banner serves as both recognition and encouragement for the bureau’s work. Luan Zhixia, the Deputy Director of the bureau, stated that Hongjitang’s achievements reflect the implementation of the “Breakthrough in Traditional Chinese Medicine” plan by the Shandong Provincial Drug Supervision Bureau.
