This prescription was first created by the famous pediatrician Qian Yi in the Song Dynasty and first appeared in the book "Direct Prescriptions for Prescriptions of Pediatric Medicine". It is composed of six traditional Chinese medicines: Rehmannia glutinosa, Eucommia ulmoides, Paeonia lactiflora, Yam, Poria cocos, and Alisma. The prescription principles are as follows
Jun: Rehmannia glutinosa. Nourishing Yin and Tonifying Kidney
Chen: Cornus officinalis - nourishes the liver and kidneys, gathers essence and qi; Yam - Tonifying Spleen Yin, Nourishing Kidney and Strengthening Essence
Zuo: Alisma: Relieves dampness, eliminates turbidity, and restricts the greasiness of cooked rice; Peony bark: Clearing and relieving deficiency heat, regulating the temperature of hawthorn meat; Poria cocos: It can alleviate spleen dampness and promote the health of yam.
Cooked rehmannia, cornus officinalis and Chinese yam are combined to supplement the kidney, liver and spleen with three yin, mainly nourishing the kidney yin, which is "three tonics"; The three medicines of Alisma, Paeonia lactiflora, and Poria cocos are known as "three laxatives", among which the dosage of tonics is heavier than that of laxatives, with tonics being the main focus.
